The Ambitious for All Foundation is a registered charity, set up by former members of staff (Sylvia Barns, Sue Bartram, Gwenda Martin, Carol Eskriett, Roland Marsh) and friends of Applemore (Chris Lund and Trish Murphy) whose aim is to raise funds to provide extra opportunities, over and above those which are offered within the curriculum, for all Applemore students.
This year alone we have spent over £2,000 funding activities for your children. Thank you if you have already supported us by attending one of our fundraising events or simply by purchasing refreshments or a raffle ticket at a school event. Your support is much appreciated and we can’t do it without you!
Our next fundraising venture, to be launched after half term, is an online raffle and we are currently looking for prizes. Can you help? To start us off, Southampton Football Club have kindly donated two tickets to any home game next season and we have free tickets for other local attractions. Are there any parents out there who might be able to offer a prize? If so we would be very grateful and would love to hear from you (email address below). Or, if you would prefer to make a donation, or organise a fund raising event on our behalf, check out our website at www.theambitiousforallfoundation.org.uk
Every penny we raise will be spent for the benefit of Applemore students…your children…so we can help them to raise their aspirations and improve their life chances. We just need you to support us so we can support them! Thank you.

A special mention to our Year 11 Photography students who completed their 10-hour exam on Tuesday and Wednesday with Mr Wheatley and Mr Kemp.
The students produced some incredible work, showcasing their talents not only taking photographs, but also using graphics editing software to manipulate them.
The two days culminated in students producing a final piece, where they showed their creative development skills by designing a physical product.
Mr Wheatley and Mr Kemp were blown away with the level of work produced - we look forward to seeing how they've done come summer results day!

Resource Provision
Our Year 8s have started a project on Jamaica, where they will be producing a travel guide of the country.
They will be learning and improving many skills from researching, persuasive writing, critical thinking to budgeting.
Here are some early shots of their work!

We are so proud of our Year 11 linguists - French and Spanish - who have been doing their GCSE speaking tests this week. The speaking test makes up 25% of the GCSE score and involves a 15 minute conversation totally in the language that the student is studying. It can be a daunting prospect and the students can be proud of the resilience and determination that they have shown as they approached this part of the exam. The speaking exam gives them the chance to showcase all the amazing oral language skills that they have acquired over their 5 years of MFL learning here at Applemore.

Hello, I am Mr Whitehorn and my role at Applemore is Extended School Co-ordinator. I have been in this role for three years, overseeing Applemore community engagement and ensuring the development of Applemore is constantly moving forward.
Applemore’s core community engagement is sport. However, we’re always looking to extend our core, allowing us to promote arts and crafts and other potential events to be hosted here at Applemore.
The reward I receive from my role is seeing student's and the Applemore community having access to a successful healthy lifestyle. My main focuses current are helping Hythe and Dibden Youth Football Club to establish a Women’s team and organising a Community Festival here at Applemore in partnership with New Forest District Council and 17th Port and Maritime Regiment.

Our fabulous Mrs Hall is doing a memory walk in October for her husband’s nan who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She would be extremely grateful for any donations big or small to help her reach her target. All the money raised goes straight to Alzheimer’s Society.
You can donate to her JustGiving page by clicking the button below. JustGiving sends your donation straight to Alzheimer's Society and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more. Thank you for your support!

What Parents Need to Know

Quality merchandise 👠 Fair prices 👍 What’s not to love? 🤔 The possibility of bagging a bargain and the ability to sell your own unwanted items have made online marketplaces like Vinted and Depop into an attractive option for anyone looking to save money or make a little extra cash for themselves in these challenging economic times. Unfortunately, however, these services (and numerous others like them) can still be misused by scammers, so it pays to remain vigilant for the risks associated with shopping apps. Fortunately, this week’s #WakeUpWednesday guide is on hand with some helpful pointers to protect young people (and yourself) from potential exploitation while doing business with others online.
