Life Skills at Applemore College aims to provide students with knowledge, skills and information for them to thrive throughout adolescence and into adulthood. This is done through targeted, dedicated sessions during the college week.

Mr Kemp |
|
I started at Applemore back in 2004 as a Teacher of PE, and over the years moved across into Computing (I have in fact taught several Applemore staff members in my time including Mrs Lowe, Mrs Brearley, Miss Perkis, Mr Whitehorn, and Mr Brown). For over a decade now I have been Head of Computing, but have also held many other roles in the school such as: School Sports Coordinator, Communications Lead, Designated Safeguarding Lead, IT Lead, Assistant Head of Year, Tutor, Remote Learning Lead, plus more! It's been a wonderful 20-years at Applemore, and it's lovely seeing students arrive in recent years, whose parents I've also taught!
What you didn't know about Mr Kemp away from work...
I have two beautiful children, Hudson (6) and Sylvie (2), and an amazing fiancée Hannah. I am a MASSIVE West Ham fan and regularly attend matches at London Stadium. When I was younger, I used to DJ in Southampton on Friday's and Saturday's playing house, dance and garage music. |

#WakeUpWednesday |
|
One of the most valuable skills a child can carry into adulthood is conflict resolution. From simple playground spats to much more serious fights. Handling these disagreements in a mature, constructive way can sometimes be uncomfortable and can also prove rather tricky. This is especially important to remember when it comes to children, who could be experiencing this kind of situation for the very first time. |
